Damp Treatment FAQs

We answer the most frequently asked questions we receive from customers regarding our damp treatment services, including damp proofing. Croft Preservation are proud to provide damp treatment services for customers across Dorset and Hampshire that are not only effective, but affordable too.

Contact us today to arrange a professional damp survey and discuss the problem of damp with our team of damp experts on 01202 737739.

What type of damp treatment do I need?

The damp treatment you require will depend on which type of damp is affecting your property. A faulty damp proof course will require a different approach to damp caused by a condensation problem, for example.

Our team can carry out a damp survey of your home in order to determine the cause of damp in your property and prescribe an effective damp treatment to prevent it. Call us to book a damp survey at a convenient time and date on 01202 737739.

How can I identify a damp problem?

Some damp problems are easier to identify than others. Here are some common indicators that you have a damp problem in your property:

  • A damp, musty odour – usually localised
  • Peeling / blistering plaster
  • Mould growth
  • Tide marks on interior wall
  • Damp patches
  • Decayed skirting boards

If you are unsure whether or not you require damp treatment, Croft Preservation are happy to help. Book a property survey today.

Where do you provide your damp treatment services?

We provide our damp treatment services across Dorset and Hampshire, including but not limited to Poole, Bournemouth and Southampton. To find out more about the kinds of damp problem we can help you with, click here.

Does my property have a damp proof course?

If your property was built in the last 100 years, then it is more than likely it was built with a damp proof course. However, over time your damp proof course may have become less effective and require repair or replacement.

We can offer reliable damp proof course injections to customers with faulty or damaged damp proof courses, as well as repair any damage caused by rising damp.

How much will my damp treatment cost?

Whilst we can give you a rough estimate over the phone, we will only be able to give you an accurate quote for damp treatment once we have established what is causing your damp problem through an inspection. Simply contact us to arrange a visit by an expert member of our team.

Do your damp treatment services come with a Guarantee?

Yes, we offer a broad range of product and service-based guarantees for our damp treatment services, so you can rest assured that you are covered in the rare circumstance that your issue persists:

Can you provide damp treatment for condensation?

Yes, we can install air bricks and a variety of ventilation systems to prevent condensation from continuing to cause a damp problem in your property. Contact us to discuss your condensation problem in greater detail with an experienced member of our team.

Will there be any disruption to my home whilst you carry out damp treatment?

We aim to cause as little disruption to your home as possible when providing our damp treatment services. Whilst many methods of damp treatment are relatively unobtrusive, replastering and any damp repair work can be more so. You can rest assured that we will always protect your flooring and furniture with plastic sheets whilst we work to prevent any damage.

Will my walls need to be replastered following rising damp treatment?

Yes, we always recommend that any effected walls are replastered following rising damp treatment due to hygroscopic salts from groundwater becoming trapped within the existing plaster.

These hygroscopic salts absorb water directly from the air, which can mean your damp problem persists even with a fully operation damp proof course. We can carry out all necessary replastering work quickly and professionally.

Do you provide timber treatment services?

Yes, we can provide effective damp treatments for both dry rot and wet rot. Timber rot can spread fast and cause problems for the integrity of your building. Contact us to arrange a property survey and we will be able to suggest the right solution.

To find out more about our affordable damp treatment services, don't hesitate to call us during business hours Monday-Friday, or fill in a contact form and we will get back to you asap.
